Infertility

Possible Causes / Treatments

Over 4.5 million couples experience the heartbreak of infertility every year.  It is as much a male problem as a female problem.  Forty percent of infertility is attributed to the female, forty percent is attributed to the male, and twenty percent is attributed to both or unknown causes.  There are over 490 books on the market written about the topic of infertility.

The process of diagnosing the exact difficulty in any couple can be arduous, humiliating, daunting, discouraging and expensive.  Today there are a slew of medical tests and procedures that can turn the originally pleasurable process into hard work.  Even after all the tests, drugs and intervention, some couples remain infertile without explanation.  Rarely does the medical community look at the possibility that conception has failed due to invisible scarring in the reproductive system.  Many doctors do not even suggest to their patients that a simple non-invasive manual therapy may improve their chances for conception.

Two out of five women are infertile due to blocked fallopian tubes, scarring, adhesions, or endometriosis. These conditions may result from surgery, pelvic inflammatory disease, infections, or injury from improper exercise or accident.  Scarring outside the fallopian tubes can restrict the movement of the egg through the tubes.  The tubes must have complete freedom of movement to ensure a fertilized egg reaches the uterus. Adhesions in the uterus may prevent the egg from properly implanting.  Myofascial release and other manual therapy can decrease adhesions and blockages and restore normal function to the organs.

Many women suffer from chronic pain.  The chemical reactions that occur in the body in response to pain are not conducive to longevity of eggs or sperm.  Eliminating pain eliminates those chemical reactions and may allow the egg and sperm to live, connect and implant properly.

Other people may suffer from inappropriate hormone levels.  Hormones are produced by glands in the body that may be affected by scarring, adhesions, or restrictions in the fascial or craniosacral systems.  By eliminating the tension and pressure on the glands, they are able to function normally and regulate hormone levels in the body without chemical intervention.  Myofascial and CranioSacral techniques may be used to promote proper functioning of the organs and glands in the body.

Many men who have had urinary tract or vasectomy reversals may suffer from scar tissue and adhesions that inhibit the production or passage of sperm causing low sperm count. Using manual therapies such as myofascial release to breakdown this tissue may enhance the chances of fertilization.

Many infertile couples have turned to invitro fertilization to achieve parenthood only to find that the eggs have not implanted properly in the uterus or experience repeated miscarriages.  Adhesions in the walls of the uterus due to infections, medical procedures, IUD use, etc. may be preventing the uterus from carrying the pregnancy.  Using myofascial release and other manual techniques to breakdown adhesions and balance the uterus may assist in successful implantation of fertilized eggs.

Three million couples who have had a successful first pregnancy find they are unable to conceive again.  This is known as secondary infertility.  Birth is a traumatic event for both mother and child.  In many cases, secondary infertility may be due to scarring that occurred during the first pregnancy and birth.  Myofascial release can decrease the scarring and free the organs to function normally and allow implantation.

Windsong Therapy and Wellness is not making any claims regarding infertility reversal. However, we are providing you with information about the mechanical workings of the body and how dysfunction in any of the systems may affect fertility.  It is our opinion, that experiencing any of the following conditions may create adhesions and play a part in infertility.

Pain or cramps in the abdomen or groin
    Painful intercourse or menstruation
    Abortions
    Sexual Abuse
    Previous births or miscarriages
Cystitis, vaginitis, yeast infections or other pelvic inflammations or sexually transmitted diseases
Appendicitis, gastritis, colitis or other abdominal inflammations
    Abdominal or pelvic surgery
    Back or hip surgery
    Endometriosis
    IUD or tampon use
Falls onto the back, hips, buttocks or tailbone
    Physical injury or automobile accident
Low back, hip, or leg pain
    Pain while sitting
    Strenuous exercise or training
Absence of menstruation prior to menopause

We do not treat "infertility" and cannot guarantee results.  We treat the structure and mechanics of the body by working to eliminate adhesions and pain, improve posture, craniosacral rhythm, and mobility.  In doing so, a large percentage pf patients who are experiencing infertility, may become parents.
